Notces of intended prosecution (NIP's)

Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIP’s) are often sent out to the driver or registered keeper of a vehicle following the alleged commission of an offence. This applies to a multitude of driving offences. The Notice of Intended Prosecution must be sent out in a pre-determined format and the details must be accurate.

Advice at this stage is absolutely fundamental and can impact on the successful conclusion of a case. Failing to comply with a Notice of Intended Prosecution is a separate offence and in certain situations can often result in a more severe penalty than the initial offence for which a Notice was dispatched.
