Oakes Woman Fined And Ordered Community Service For Being 3 Times Legal Limit
A woman from Oakes, near Huddersfield, was reported to police after being witnessed getting into her car after drinking on April 8. Upon investigation, it was found that she was almost three times over the legal drink-drive limit.
42-year-old Leanne Sykes was arrested after a member of the public called the police. Breath tests revealed she had 96 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
District Judge Michael Fanning told her: “You had people with you in the car and you were still prepared to drive while very intoxicated – it’s an unacceptable risk.”
He sentenced Sykes to a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work.
She was ordered pay a total of £170 in court costs and was banned from driving for 24 months.
