The drink driving case of Barbara Knox was today heard in Crewe Magistrates Court. As this was an administrative hearing the Coronation Street star was not present and all matters were dealt with by Freeman & Co. Solicitors in her absence.
The 81 year old actress has always strenuously denied the allegations of drink driving and has made herself heard on this point at earlier hearings though her solicitor, Nick Freeman who is also known in the media as Mr Loophole.
It was last March when Miss Knox was arrested by police on suspicion of driving her Jaguar car whilst she was over the legal limit for alcohol.
It is alleged that the Coronation Street start who has played Rita Tanner for 43 years, gave a breathalyser sample of 50mg in 100ml of breath. The current legal limited is 35mg in 100ml of breath.
The case was heard by District Judge Bridget Knight who set a date for the trial to take place on 9th and 10th of February 2015.
The trial had originally been listed for July 2014 but had to be adjourned following Freeman & Co.’s expert analysis of the prosecution’s toxicology procedures.
Miss Knox was given unconditional bail in her absence.
At a previous court hearing, celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman stated that she had been manhandled by the police.
