It has been reported how a drug driver was caught twice in two weeks and the worst of it is that he was caught both times on the same road.
21-year-old Daniel Dickerson pleaded guilty to 2 counts of drug driving and was told by the Judge that he could be facing a disqualification period of 3 years.
The court heard how on 21 January 2017, Dickerson was stopped by police and submitted to a road side drug test. The readings showed positive for cocaine, BZE and cannabis.
He was released on police bail, however, 2 weeks later the police pulled him over again, on the same street he was stopped before, and he tested positive for cocaine. He was also found to have 6 grammes of cannabis in his car.
Following his guilty pleas, the Judge adjourned sentence for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
The Judge commented: “These are serious matters. You basically drive around willy-nilly in a car while over the limit for drugs.
“An aggravating feature is that you did this once, then carried on doing it while you were on police bail. I have to look at the danger that is posed to the public by you and the reality is that (when he is sentenced) I will be looking at handing you a high-level community order.
“But, in terms of a disqualification (from driving), it could be 36 months.”
Dickerson is now due to be sentenced at the start of May.
