A man who was driving to see a friend in hospital was stopped by the police and ended up with a 17 month driving ban.
The court heard how the driver, Fungayi Ruwona was spotted but he police, swerving his car as he drove.
The police stopped Ruwona and gave gave him a roadside breath test which he subsequently failed.
He gave a reading of 76mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, somewhat twice over the current legal limit.
In mitigation, the court court was told that Ruwona had been driving whisky at home with a friend when he heard that another friend of his had been taken to hospital.
It was at this stage that Ruwana decided to get behind the wheel and rive to the hospital.
Along with the 17 month driving ban for drink driving, the father of 2 was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £35 government surcharge.
