A 32 year old property lawyer was found hanged 6 weeks after being arrested for drink driving.

An inquest heard that Karanne Hollow had a disagreement with her boyfriend, following which she downed 2 bottles of wine.

She then drove and crashed her Mercedes Benz into a hedge at around 3am.

Miss Hollow was arrested over the crash and questioned at a police station where she was described as being in a “stressed and anxious state”, before being allowed home.

The inquest then heard that a mere 6 weeks later her boyfriend found her hanging in the garage at the home they shared.

Before her death she had been listening to the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. The song contains the lyrics: “I don’t want the world to see me, ’cause I don’t think that they’d understand. When everything’s made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.”

He only discovered her body as he could hear the same song on repeat, being played from the garage.

Coroner Aled Griffiths, told the inquest: “She was arrested for drink driving and a week after the incident was questioned about it at Carmarthen Police station.

“She was anxious about a police charge.

“Her boyfriend Creighton Higginson described her as being loving and affectionate. But since she returned from police interview she was described by him as distant.

“She was embarrassed about that arrest. After the police interview she was described as in a stressed and anxious state.”

On finding her, Mr Higginson attempted CPR and on paramedics attending they managed to regain a pulse.

Tragically, Miss Hollow later died in hospital.

On the night of her death, Miss Hollow sent a text to her family, simply stating: “I love you”.

She sent a further message to her twin sister with the words: “Iris, Goo Goo Doll”.

In entering a verdict of suicide, Mr Griffiths stated: “I am satisfied that she carried out the act that ended her life. I hope Karanne is now at peace.”

Our thoughts and condolences are with her family, Mr Higgins and friends.
