A legal “big hitter” whose speciality is defending clients charged with serious crimes has joined Nick “Mr Loophole” Freeman’s law firm.
The appointment of David Hanman – one of the best-known names on the Northern legal scene – will be a welcome addition to the already formidable in-house team at Freeman & Co.

During a career spanning more than 23 years, Mr Hanman has represented clients facing serious charges including multi-million-pound frauds, money laundering and allegations of large scale theft.
After working for some of the biggest law firms in the North West, Mr Hanman formed Hanman Associates in 2002, and, after it was bought out three years later, stayed on as a consultant for a further 18 months.
For the last ten years he has acted as a consultant for a number of law firms before joining Freeman & Co.
Mr Freeman said: “I have known David for almost all of my working life and he is extremely well respected by colleagues throughout the profession.

Mr Hanman is a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax and previously a member of the VAT Practitioners Group, Customs Practitioners Group and Institute of Indirect Tax.
