A man who was already disqualified from driving has been given a four‑year driving ban after being caught drink‑driving twice within the space of a month.

Kennedy Kipchirchir appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted to drink‑driving and driving while disqualified. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to wear an alcohol monitoring tag for 120 days and to pay £884 in court costs.

The court heard that Kipchirchir had previously been banned from driving for nearly a year after members of the public reported him hitting a traffic cone and narrowly avoiding a collision in May 2024.

In May 2025, police officers breathalysed Kipchirchir after stopping him and found he was over the legal alcohol limit. Just weeks later, officers again observed him driving erratically in the same vehicle. Police footage showed him swapping seats with a passenger shortly before being stopped.

A second breath test confirmed he was again over the legal limit.

Following sentencing, PC Laurie Merchant of Gloucestershire Police said cases involving disqualified drivers continuing to drive under the influence were becoming more frequent. He added that the behaviour demonstrated a disregard for road traffic laws.
