A teenager from Fenstanton and another motorist have been disqualified from driving following separate incidents in Cambridge in which officers found them over the legal alcohol limit. The summary below reflects court news published by Cambridgeshire Constabulary on 18 December 2025.
In one case, a 19‑year‑old man from Fenstanton was involved in a collision in Cambridge in the early hours of 24 August 2025. According to court reporting, he first struck a bollard on Kings Parade and then reversed into a lorry. After leaving the vehicle, he was located by police on Harvey Goodwin Avenue, failed a breath test at the roadside, and was arrested.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on 11 December 2025, the teenager admitted charges including driving over the legal alcohol limit and driving without insurance or a licence. He was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay a fine.
The report also referenced a 75‑year‑old motorist from Toft who was seen swerving across lanes on 23 October 2025, collided with another vehicle, and then left the scene. Police later found the vehicle at the resident’s home and arrested the driver after a breath test indicated they were over the legal alcohol limit. That driver was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined.
A police spokesperson noted that driving under the influence of alcohol can endanger road users and highlighted the force’s ongoing efforts to address impaired driving, including a confidential reporting hotline and increased patrols during the festive season.
